Home Helps

Home Helps, which serves York and Lancaster Counties, was started in 2007.  Home Helps provides repair and maintenance services for low-income older adult and disabled homeowners.

Home Helps' 500 volunteers serve together to build wheelchair ramps for mobility and freedom; replace rotting staircases, drywall, ceilings, doors, windows and flooring for a safe and healthy home; install ADA compliant showers and bathrooms; caulk windows and doors; paint both the interior and exterior of the home; provide minor plumbing and electrical work; and perform property maintenance.

Servants and Home Helps partners with the York County Community Foundation's Embracing Aging Initiative, part of which allows the homeowner to live in their home for as long as they would like. Please click on the article below for details!!!

In 2016, Home Helps volunteers from York County received the Junior League of York's Volunteer of the Year Award! We are always in need of volunteers - both skilled and unskilled - no experience required - to assist our homeowners.  Please call us at 717-378-0336 for details and a volunteer application or email HomeHelps@Servants.org.

Love Your Neighbor!

Mark 10:45

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.+

Haley* did a poor job of hiding the damage, both to her home and to her heart. Haley’s husband, Joe*, has suffered through three strokes and they live well below the poverty level. They couldn’t afford a wheelchair ramp and were at risk of having to leave their home and live apart. She called several places for assistance. No one would help.

Haley called Servants to see if help was available.

The answer was YES, but the home’s kitchen cabinets, front door and flooring were rotting away too. Because of your faithful support, the home was repaired, and a ramp was built. Without you, these low-income homeowners wouldn’t be able to continue living together in a safe and healthy home.

As the end of the year approaches, Servants has launched the “Put Love Your Neighbor Into Action" Campaign to help people in need both here at home and around the world.

Won't you give today to help God's people in need like Joe and Haley? Won't you put Love Your Neighbor Into Action now? Please donate today!

Mark 12:30-31

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

Servants Summer Workcamps!

Check out this video that highlights the great things that God is doing in our summer workcamps!

Home Helps Summer Workcamps

Home Helps has four York County Work Camps each year and participates in Lancaster County's Go Beyond week of Service.  The camps are designed to repair homes that have significant need.

Go Beyond - TBD 2019

Faith Beyond the Pews - June 9-14, 2019

Home Helps York City Work Camp - July 7-12, 2019

Home Helps Northeast Work Camp - July 28-August 2,  2019

Homeowners and communities are seeing the hands and feet of Christ at work while home maintenance and repairs are lovingly provided to our brothers and sisters in need. God not only blesses our homeowners during these work camps, but also the volunteers who interact with the homeowner and work side by side serving Christ. Volunteers are able to experience a mission trip in their own communities.

Please prayerfully consider joining Home Helps as we step out in faith to be the “light of Christ” for our homeowners in need.
